Tough Cases?
Are there any tough cases out there like Pelican that fit a Glo HD that anyone has seen? Even one that doesnt fit perfectly for daily use but is good for storing the Glo in a backpack or when travelling.
I suppose Alliexpress and Ebay are full of generic cases its just a question of finding one that fits, has anyone ever managed? |

Don't most such cases have, or make use of, a foam interior that the user cuts/shapes to fit whatever is being protected? With that approach, any hard case like Samsonite luggage, would work. There should be plenty of hard cases of the proper size.
Luck; Ken Perhaps something like this for $5. Or one of these. Last edited by Ken Maltby; 06-18-2016 at 05:38 PM. |

Thanks, I was thinking more along the lines of an existing tablet or phablet case though just for price and convenience sake, has anyone found a tough case like that that will hold a Glo?

Unfortunately, this is the closest Pelican case to an ereader size. I've added some foam blocks to the inside, as the case is a bit big for the Glo (it's a 7 inch tablet case). http://www.pelican.com/us/en/product...tablet/1055CC/ The case works very nicely for my purposes. And has saved my device a couple of times. |

Anybody with wood working tools or sheet metal tools could make a small box for protecting ereader during transport. Might not be cheaper if you had to pay someone to make this box. I would use 1/4 inch tempered hardboard for the large flat surface.

But I think when this cover gets here and I put it on it should fit inside it nice and snug so that will keep me going until I find an ideal solution, thanks. Please do post if you find something tough and compact that will let you read on the go though, I cant find a single one but there are plenty of 6" phablets out there these days so there must be something... |

Or you could make a waterproof see through case from plastic window glass replacement sheets, like from Home Depot or Lowes. You would build it up with top and bottom sheets, sandwiching a sheet that has its center cut out to match your reader. You could use a Dremel Tool to create a groove for a rubber "O" Ring, to go between the center sheet and the bottom sheet. The top and middle sheets would be glued together and the bottom sheet would be tightly secured to that assembly, by a number of nuts and bolts.
You would need to remove the device to charge it (you could use a Qi microUSB adapter, to charge it in the case) or to set the document/book up. [I seem to remember a post where someone had the magnetic switch event set to turn the page.] I wouldn't try it below 66' (2 atmospheres), but you could probably read at the bottom of your pool. Luck; Ken If you just wanted it for the bath/rain and weren't taking it diving, you could get a sample rubber sheet and cut that to match the middle plastic sheet and not need the "O" Ring. Hmm... I wonder if you could have a magnetic bit, that you could have inside the case, and maneuver over the touch screen, to make selections? Last edited by Ken Maltby; 06-19-2016 at 09:38 AM. |

Best of all though is that its good enough to act as a tough case on its own, its not the soft leather you get with some phone and tablet cases, its rigid plastic covered in leather so it gives pretty serious protection, all the pressure would be on the case and not on the reader if it was being crushed in a bag for example which is exactly what I wanted, very pleasantly surprised to be honest, cant fault it, its an upgrade on the Glo, feels better with it on than off. |
