Disable only 3G in Kindle Voyage 3G

Hi all!

Is it possible to disable only 3G in Kindle Voyage 3G? I can put it in plane mode, but then Wifi is disabled too.

I want this because battery last very little when 3G is enabled. I suppose is 3G because my girlfriend hast the same but only WiFi and his battery lasts at least 5 times more...

I have the last firmware and it is not jailbroken.

I have thought that if there is a known wifi available, it uses that, not the 3G. Still affects battery life though, so I have mine in airplane mode and only connect to sync or download books. It is easy to switch on/off with the new interface

Yes, that's is what I do now, but sometimes I forgot to enable it to allow sync and then I try to read in other device and... well, I need to search my last position by hand.

Unfortunately it's not possible to disable 3G and leave WiFi enabled. They are either both on, or both off.

Contact Amazon see if they switch to a Voyage without 3G...

I always keep mine on and not in airplane mode. At the house I have Wifi and I never see the 3G symbol. When I'm away I do see the 3G symbol and it does use the battery more.

If yours is using a lot of battery when you're near a Wifi router and connected I wonder if you might have a faulty device.

With 3G you have a Limit. So I suggest you Do Contact Amazon. Don't turn it on unless you are Down loading a book.

Thanks all for your recommendations.

At end it was a problem with the device. I mean, I wanted to switch off 3G only for the battery use: less than two days. I thought was a "new feature" from the new firmware versions, but after a factory reset battery lasts two weeks (well, at least one week starting with battery at half level and still at half level after the week or so).
