Kindle Keyboard stuck on empty battery screen
Hey everyone, haven't used my kindle for at least a year and so have been trying to get it to come back to life trying various methods. I've left it on to charge for a few days and have also tried the Kubrick method, (this is how I found this forum) I ran the software and when it got to flashing my kindle insteadof taking 1-3 hours it took 1-3 seconds so obviously something hasn't worked. I'm not sure if it's even going into usb download mode. When I plug my kindle into my computer it registers but I can't seem to shift the empty battery screen. Is my only option now to open the case and connect the two solder points for a reset?

I had the same problem with my original KT and I thought the battery was toast but I googled how to reset it and to get it reset I had to hold down the power button for like 30 sec and then 20 sec and 8 or 10 sec releasing the power button in between for 3-5 sec and it restarted. I didn't really think it would work when I tried but it did. It couldn't hurt to try. If it doesn't work after a couple tries, you might want to search and see if there is a different variation for the KK.

Slimmer did you plug it into a wall socket?
Plug it in there and do not touch it at all for 24 hours. Make sure it is on a short charge cord. The 10 foot ones are only good for small things. |

The good news is that the most expensive part of your Kindle Keyboard, the screen, is in good condition. If you have another Kindle Keyboard with a cracked screen, you can replace that cracked screen with your good one, and then use the other unit. There are instructions on youtube, and elsewhere on the web, on how to disassemble and re-assemble the eReader. If you don't have a cracked screen unit, and you live in the US, you can get one fairly cheaply on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazon-Kindl...UAAOSwbdpWXU~6 One factor behind my advice: The screen is easier to replace than the motherboard. |
