Best E-book reader for searchable (OCR'd) PDFs

Hello all,

I recently broke my Kobo Glo's screen and it seems fixing it would be more expensive than buying a new reader. So I'm looking for a decent reader this time. As I have lots of OCR'd PDFs, I'd like a reader that would benefit from that (search within PDF, word highlighting etc.). I noticed that there are very few readers that support these features. Could you recommend anything for me? Other important features are full touchscreen, backlight, and decent reading options (panning, zooming, page orientation changing etc.)

Thanks!

Your requirements obviously necessitate an LCD tablet, not an eInk device. I read a lot of PDFs, and the best platform I've found for this is an iPad with the "GoodReader" app.

Yeah, but I eInk is better for my eyes, and I read a lot. So I'm looking for the best option on eInk driven devices...

I'm afraid that your requirement for a backlight rules out eInk. eInk screens can't be backlit (because they're opaque).

You could ask forum user medwatt to make another video on i86+ pdf highlighting, annotating, searching etc. and see whether its speed is good enough for you.

If/when you maybe need a better speed/performance or color recognition, you can simply use some tablet simultaneously while reading the same pdf on your e-ink.

I guess that would be a cheaper option. But does it support OCR'd PDFs? What I miss the most is the ability to highlight and translate any word from PDF...

Onyx Boox M-96. Take a look. Although there is no frontlight in this model, it's the best pdf reader.

Get an Android OS e-reader. Boyue and Onyx are available. You can load pdfs with a variety of software on Androod. If you keep them as pdfs a bigger ereadrr is better but if the pdfs are OCRed text you could convert them to epub. If you keep them as pdf its good to use the A2 refresh mode so you can scroll the pdf like on a tablet without flashing. I think the boyue and onyx do that.

If you get a 6 inch ereader youll have to read in landscape.

The kobo is okay with koreader but Android offers more software choice and the a2 no flash mode.
