French-English dictionary not visible
Aura HD running 3.18.0 firmware. When I bring up the dictionary and tap on Language, as well as English I see German-English, Italian-English, Spanish-English, and Portuguese-English. French-English doesn't appear. However, when I plug the reader into my PC and have a look in the .kobo/dict folder, the French-English dictionary file *is* there. A directory listing of the folder shows the following files:
14/08/2015 15:15 1,666,763 dicthtml-es-en.zip 14/08/2015 15:15 3,226,343 dicthtml-pt-en.zip 14/08/2015 15:15 926,221 dicthtml-de-en.zip 14/08/2015 15:15 1,586,132 dicthtml-fr-en.zip 14/08/2015 15:15 1,019,627 dicthtml-it-en.zip 14/08/2015 15:15 7,010,221 dicthtml.zip How can I get the French-English dictionary to appear in the selection of dictionaries? p.s. I should mention, the problem only happens when I do a search from the home page and select "Dictionary", or when I select "Dictionary" from the bottom right menu after tapping in the centre of a page while reading a book. If I highlight a word in a book and then tap the language selection in the popup definition, French-English *does* appear as one of the language choices. However, if I want to look up an arbitrary French word that is not on the page I am reading, I can't, because French-English doesn't appear as one of the language choices. That's working as designed. Or maybe "working as licensed" would better.
The license Kobo has for the French and Dutch dictionaries does not allow them to be searched like this. You can select a word in book and look it up, but you can not enter a word to look up |

That is why I went back to 3.15, which as far as I know, is the last F/W that allows French or translations with French from the front page and within the book.

Well, as I have no interest in the Portuguese-English dictionary, I got around the problem by copying dicthtml-fr-en.zip to the PC, renaming it to dicthtml-pt-en.zip, and copying the renamed file back over dicthtml-pt-en.zip on the kobo. Now I can do a dictionary search from the home page, pick Portuguese-English as the language, and I actually have the French-English dictionary available for arbitrary translations.
