Filename to File Tag and Setting File Dorectory

I name all of my ePub and PDF files in this format, the brackets are included)

Quote:
Author - BookTitle [Year]
But I'm not sure how to use Calibre to manage and use the filename to get tags from PDF books.

ePub files have their information already written to them.

As long as the PDFs have decent XMP metadata, calibre should be able to import the embedded metadata without having to rely on filename parsing.

Otherwise, you're stuck calibre can't import tags from the filename.
