calibre not working in windows 8.1

immediately on installation about two months back, caliber was working in my pc having windows 8.1. recently it is not working and following message only coming:

"Failed to redirect stdout/stderr to NUL. This indicates a corrupted Windows install.

You should contact Microsoft for assistance and/or follow the steps described here:

http://bytes.com/topic/net/answers/2...device-missing

No such file or directory (Error Code:2)"

Can anybody help please?

Did you contact M$ ? (or your IT department) This is a OS level issue.

The windows (even existed in DOS. In Linux it is /dev/nul ) standard device NUL: (like LPT1:,C: COM1: ) is missing or blocked . Firewalled?

NUL: is the system bit bucket to keep you from having to see messages from subroutines used by calibre

Update to Windows 10. That should fix whatever is wrong with the 8.1 install.
