Having trouble deciding

Hi everybody! I’m planning to get myself a new ereader and I wanted to get some advice from more experienced ereader users. My previous ereader was a Kobo Aura HD (I was happy with it but it broke recently) and I’ve done some reading and narrowed it down to 3 options:

- Kobo Aura H2O (I like the bigger screen, the water proofing, the expandable memory slot and the screen resolution)
- Kobo Aura (I like how the front is flush with the screen and the expandable memory)
- Kindle Paperwhite (I like how the front is flush with the screen and the screen resolution but I’m a bit hesitant because of the lack of expandable memory)

I’m finding it really hard to decide because there are things I like about all of them but also things about each I’m not so fond of. So I have a few questions:

1. The Kobo Aura is pretty old now - I think it came out in 2013. Is it still worth buying?

2. In terms of sharpness of text, is there a noticeable difference between the Voyager (300dpi) and the Aura H2O (265dpi)?

3. Is there a noticeable difference in text sharpness between the Aura H2O (265dpi) and the Aura (212dpi)?

4. Roughly how many books can a Voyage hold? (I’m one of those people that likes to fill up my ereader so I can carry around my entire library)

Thank you in advance for your help!

How many books do you own?
Do you primarily shop at the Kobo store?

The Kobo Aura (non-HD) has a screen inferior to the more recent Kobos as a result of the flush-screen. Not recommended. Either get the H2O or the Glo HD.

I know the Glo HD is comparable in sharpness of text to the PW3. They have the same screen. The Voyage apparently has a slightly nicer screen because of the flush-screen, but the font options are way better on the Kobos. You can easily increase the weight of the fonts. On the Kindles you can embed custom fonts using Calibre, but it's a lot less easy than a Kobo.

I think the Voyage has 4 gig of storage which should be more than enough space for most people.

The Kindle Paperwhite doesn't have a flush screen. Perhaps you're confusing it with the Voyage, which does.

Thanks for all the tips! I went to the store today to try all the ereaders in person and ended up buying the Aura H2O because it had the best balance of features that I wanted. Now it's time for some reading in the bath!

Thank you again for all your help.

You won't be disappointed with the h2o. It is a such a pleasure to read books on this device. I've been happy with the screen resolution, it is much better than my previous nook simpletouch. The difference between the glo hd screen and h2o is pretty negligible, imho 300 ppi is nice but not necessary.
