A Problem Getting started with Kobo Aura

I've just got my Kobo aura and I need it only for reading ebooks that I already have on my 32bit PC (XP SP2).

However after charging it I only get the choose language, settings and, when connecting to my PC, also the icon of a PC with "kobosetup.com".

Can I read books on my Kobo without downloading the Kobosetup?
Even after installing dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe ,ADE_4.5_Installer.exe, vcredist_x86 microsoft.exe and kobosetup.exe when I run the kobo.exe I get a message "not a valid 32win epplication".

thanks fr any help.
Btw, if I can copy ebooks from my PC to My Aura - where should I put them?

You need to register the ereader with kobo to use it.
If you do not plan to buy books from them use any email address and bypass payment information. You can do this using WiFi connection.

You can also bypass registration following information in thos post (is the same for Aura):

No need for Kobo Desktop at all.

To copy books to your reader use Calibre or copy them to root folder in the eReader. I think you can also put them in folders, but do not copy too many books at a time or the ereader can became "stuck" trying to index all of them.
