Red face .html to ePub and make table of contents from it

Hello,

I have searched but not found or understood the answer.

I have a ready html file with all contents.

I use Calibre but do not understand how the easiest way to get to a table of contents.

I've tried Calibre ebook viewer but it is so much wrong there so it feels hopeless.

I've tried TOC but I can not work either.

Here is an example of how it looks in the HTML file

"<div class =" level2 ">
<h2 id = "rng_cnt_0298">
<a href="17e0e_0010.smil#rng_txt_0010_0001"> Test Title </a>
</ h2>
<p>
<span class = "sentence" id = "rng_cnt_0299">
<a href="17e0e_0010.smil#rng_txt_0010_0002"> These two lines of development are also highlighted by the related researcher Karlen Lyons-Ruth (1991), in an article that critically discusses the psychoanalyst Margaret Mahler (1979) previously highly influential theory of child development during the three first years of life as a gradual separation-individuation. </a>
</ span> "

Grateful for the help and apologies if the answer is already there and I missed it

did you insert the spaces in the closing tags to post here? </h2> is valid and can also be detected using the TOC toolbar tool to add to an existing book

BTW
You can use a [code] pair to post (the # icon on the advanced editor toolbar)
to insert unmodified code into a post

Well those spaces might have been your problem.

Open the book in the editor, then use the beautify icon (lavender flower?)
