Color of text in library browser?
Is it possible to change font color in library table from black to some other color?
Asking because of inconsistent long_text custom fields, text in them is always black, even when row is selected |

Long text columns are not intended for display in the book list, but if you want them to be another color, they support HTML markup, simply wrap them in <span style="color: whatever">...</span>

@Andys: On my machine, long text columns are not always black unless I have set the text color to be black. The text in the book list changes color when selected unless I have set a foreground (text) color.
Have you explicitly set the text color in the columns to black? |

Thanks for answers, for now I'll try to decompile calibre's pyo files and try to modify this behavior.
If that wouldn't work - I'll have to use html tags. I totally don't understand reasons behind decision to keep text's color static. Someone had to go out of their way and waste time writing few lines of codes checking for type so it wouldn't be handled as simple columns. If people don't want to see these columns they could just hide them... Last edited by Andys; 10-19-2015 at 01:32 AM. |

You appear to be laboring under lots of mistaken assumptions:
1) Do not use long text columns for display in the book list, they are meant for display in the book details panel. Instead use a normal text column. 2) Long text columns are meant to display HTML, not plain text, unlike normal text columns. 3) If you insist on using a long text column in the book list, then it will change its color when selected unless its content already contain HTML tags specifying a color 4) If the content already contains HTML tags specifying a color, then you can change its color manually by editing the html tags 5) calibre is open source and setting up a development environment is trivial, instructions are in the user manual. You do not need to decompile .pyo files. |
