Finally "retired" touch that kept freezing
It has been a while since I've postes here. My Touch is finally gone. Had enough of the freezing issue. It is now resting in the trash bin in two pieces.
![]() Looking at the current line up of kobos I'm torn between which model to choose. The tech isn't all that different between models. Small things here and there. Does anyone have experience with the new Touch2? Comments? When it comes to responsiveness, which model would run smoother/faster? I assume the H2O or Go HD are the better models. Given that they are the more expensive units. I'm just open to hear from fellow kobo users and the experiences they had. Thanks. |

I wouldn't buy an unlit one personally, but your budget is your budget - buy the one you can afford. I would suggest handling them in person if you can, but your profile offers no clues as to your location.

Agree. So, there really isn't a better model out there in terms of processing speed (flipping pages, searches, looking up dictionary definitions, etc)? It all just comes down to screen resolution/SD card support/IP rating/etc?

In my opinion, pretty much yes, but I haven't had a new Touch in my hands so I can't speak to that from personal experience. In my opinion the biggest ugprade the Kobo has had since the original Touch is in lighting. The larger screen, even lighting, higher resolution and contrast, and waterproofing of the H2O is lovely, but it's the lighting itself that was the biggest difference for me, the move from Touch to Glo.
If your device is mostly for reading, the issue is what the page looks like (hardware plus layout features), and perhaps other features like organising your books and suchlike. Firmware is more or less the same across the board with Kobo, so you're down to size, lighting, resolution and suchlike mostly. But I really don't care whether page turn speed is a fifth of a second or a third of a second - it's fast enough for me either way when it's down to the fractions. Ditto with search speed - when it's fast enough, it's fast enough. I'm picky in other ways. Last edited by meeera; 10-14-2015 at 05:08 AM. |

Thanks Meeera.
I've looked on kijiji and currently there are 3 Aura HDs for sale. I think if one of those does not pan out I'll end up with the new Glo HD. |

PS: What ever happened to the Aura HD? The H20? Lol. It was short lived.

It's H2O (as in water), not H20 (as in aitch-twenty). Aura HD was released April 2013; H2O October 2014. That's not a short product cycle. The improved resolution and the waterproofing are significant improvements IMO.

Thanks for the feedback.
I ended up going with a used Aura HD. The Glo HD would have been my next choice. But $70 more expensive. No Carta for me yet. ![]() |

Hi Adorable. Yes. The Aura HD is a treat compared to the Touch. Much faster. No lockups (yay). And a very nice screen.

I also got an Aura HD instead of an H2O...price. I paid $80 less, and it turned out to be a brand new device. The HD is very nice. Someday, I may get the H2O.....maybe they'll run a sale before the holidays.
