Few old dead tree books have been recently found to be contaminated with Arsenic. This element is among the most toxic substances in the world and exposure may lead to various symptoms of poisoning, the development of cancer, and even death.

I understand there is a similar problem with old wallpaper in some houses as well. They used Arsenic to get the green shade that people liked in the old days. It's also one reason why it is hard to say if Napoleon died a natural death or not as people had Arsenic in their environment so much back then. Was he poisoned? If so was it accidental or on purpose? We may never know for sure. Arsenic isn't alone either. In the Middle Ages women used powdered lead as make up to make their faces paler. Lead poisoning anyone?
