Metadata download shows only 1 source

Though I have several sources checked for metadata the window shows only one result. Is this intentional or can multiple sources be displayed so that I can choose the best? If so, how?

A book I have added has an incorrect synopsis on every source except one. Currently I can only access that synopsis by making fantasticfiction my only source...

TIA for any help or advice.

One result is because you used the Ctrl-D method.
If you use Download from inside the Metadata Editor, you will see a list of choices (if multiple hits), the same applies to configured cover sources.

BTW Configure Metadata downloads allows Priority of cover sources (by Source) and Which Metadata field, (by Source) to accept. eg. Don't want Tags from Amazon: remove the tick next to Tags

Nope, no ctrl-D used. I always hit download. Could there be another reason?

If you use Download Metadata in the Edit Metadata window, and only one result is shown, it is because calibre only found one result.

Certain identifiers values will override the book matching -- e.g. if you have the amazon:xxxxxxxxxxxxxx identifier, that will tell calibre to search by ASIN on Amazon.
If you have broken/malformed identifiers, that might screw things up (or other people have had bizarre results match).

I have two sources checked as an experiment. Each contains metadata for the book in question but only one appears when I select Download.

One has the correct synopsis. The other has the synopsis for another book by the same author.

Remove (temporarily) the identifiers. eschwartz has the right idea

BTW

You can use your Mouse to copy (to clipboard) the Synopsis on the right, then abort the download and Paste the clipboard avoiding all the other changes

removed all identifiers - still no joy

right now I have amazon, google and fantastic fiction checked but only one result appears when I click download even though all have entries for the book in question.

By the way, I have already corrected the synopsis for the book by copying/pasting but I'm still interested in getting Calibre to work the way it ought to. Then I can avoid similar problems in the future

Use the button (at bottom) Configure Selected Source
Maybe the ticks are gone for most fields

BTW Maybe you need to raise the timeout value (right bottom area)

This is very strange - the log (View Log option after metadata download) shows each of the three sources I have configured as being read but only one is displayed.

I have also discovered other books in my library that DO display multiple sources but I cannot detect any glaring differences between those books and the one that sent me here in the first place.

I give up at this point - perhaps the author will run across this and fix it in a future release.

One last experiment:
Shutdown Calibre.
Rename the (hidden) Calibre configuration folder (all your USER settings and Plugins reside there) to something else
Start Calibre. Point it at your Library if asked.

Now try a download. If it works, you have a foobar setting
otherwise, you can delete and restore your original configuration name

You are sure those sources returned real results and just not a (not found) return. Something on your system has really tossed sand into the gears

@anothermoi - trying deselecting the 1 site that downloads, I have a 'feeling' that if sites B, C & D have the same data as site A, then you'll only see A - A, B, C and D indicates download completion order.
