Right now I can only read it on the Kobo app on my mac's monitor and its a LONG book so there is no way I am going to do that.

I have to ask: Where have you been hiding? Adobe DRM is probably the most widespread DRM method. Adobe DRM protected books are sold at many shops, and many ereader and apps support reading them. You need to use ADE (Adobe Digital Editions) to download and sideload them to ereaders that support it.

The books you are looking at in the Kobo application are not actually epubs. They are Kobo's own format generally known as "kepub". These are downloaded directly to the Kobo devices, apps and desktop application. The format is basically epub but with some extra code and rules. And they use their own DRM for these books.

As well as the kepubs, Kobo also have epub versions of the books. These are downloaded from the Kobo site. You log into your account on the site and go to your library. Each book you have bought should have a link. For books with Adobe DRM, clicking the link should start ADE to do the download. If the book is not protected, you can download it directly.

De-DRM of both epubs and kepubs is in the package that Sirtel pointed to.
