No suitable formats

Trying to copy epub files from Calibre to Kobo Aura.
Half of the files transferred correctly, but with the rest of them I received a message:
WARNING: No suitable formats: Could not upload the following books to the device, as no suitable formats were found. Convert the book(s) to a format supported by your device first.

Trying to View these files in Calibre led to the same error message.
These same files, however, could be read using Icecream Ebook reader and Sumatra.

Removing the books from the library and re-adding them enabled me to transfer them correctly.
Any ideas of the reasons ?

Idea 1: The files had been renamed or moved since being first added to Calibre, and the calibre database was no longer indexing the correct file, so when calibre tried to open or send the book, it found none.

Thanks for the reply.
All of the books were added to Calibre at the same time, and no changes made afterwards except to metadata.
Since the books transferred ok after removing and re-adding only these books, my query was purely for interest.

Someone else with what sounds like the same problem: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...78#post3184278

If the books are not opening in the Calibre viewer then it is likely a Calibre/PC problem rather than a Kobo problem.
