Broken T68 Screen

So, I sat on my T68. I can't see any cracked glass or anything, but the left 4/5 of the screen is frozen. Only the right 1/5 changes, and it still responds to touch.

Does anybody know if Artatech or Onyx International will repair broken devices? Alternatively, can I buy the e-ink part and replace it myself?

The device is still working, and I've done quite a lot of modding to it software-wise, so I'd prefer to get it fixed than replaced.

Many thanks for your suggestions, Warren

You probably broke the substrate.

Show us some images (keeping in mind our Posting Guidelines, please).

Sure thing. See below. The right-hand portion where you can see the letters "to" and "90" still works and reacts to screen presses. The part with the vertical lines works in places (the white stripes) and the left-hand side is dead. Cheers, Warren

Yes, the buttocks are, indeed, stronger than the substrate.

Unfortunately, it looks as if you have broken the substrate on your reader.

I have heard back from Artatech and onyx-boox. Are they the same? They both say: please contact us again in mid-October as we do not have screens in stock. Artatech is quoting "about 117 euro plus shipping". Just FYI for anybody else who needs repairs done. I've also just sent a query off to onyx-international. Is there anybody else I should try?

Thanks, Warren

Can anybody suggest a way to get a remote desktop onto my broken T68, just so I can play with it? I already had droid VNC server installed, but the touchscreen no longer works so I cannot launch it. Can I launch it from the command-line?

I've downloaded AndroidScreencast and I can get a remote desktop. However, because it is Android 4.0, the T68 does not understand remote tap or swipe events, so I can't interact with the remote desktop!

Suggestions? Now that I've ordered a T68 plus, I'd still like to fiddle around with the broken T68.

Cheers, Warren

I just heard back from onyx-international. They are quoting US$70 + shipping for a replacement screen. I'll order one.

That's good to hear! I've broken my M96 screen back in April, maybe I'll get it replaced too.
