Problem loading elibrary book to Aura H2O

I have just tried to download an e-library book, from the Free Library of Philadelphia, via Adobe Digital Editions.
ADE shows that the reader is authorised to my Adobe ID and the reader itself confirms this under "settings".
The book can be opened in my PC using ADE, both on the bookshelf and in the reader folder.

However, on the H20 reader, the thumbnail in the library shows blank and the book will not open. I get the message "Oops this document cannot be opened. This document is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) and is not currently authorised for use by your Adobe ID. Please sign in with the authorised Adobe ID and try again".

All other library books I previously loaded open OK.

I had a similar problem a few days ago and had to do a factory reset to get around it. Can anyone help please - I don't want to do a reset every time I download a book

Edit to add : I have tried removing the book from the reader and reloading using ADE but get the same issues
(I am using firmware 3.18 ; ADE 4.0 and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit)

Thanks
Dave

Had to reset and reload all books to get round this (couldn't find another way) .

However I did find, on the Kobo help pages , a reference that ADE version 3.0 may lead to less authorisation issues when loading e-library books than v4.0. There was no explanation why, but to try it I have from 4.0 to 3.0, reloaded the books and will see how that goes.

Arrrghh
Happened again tonight when attempting to download this time from my local e-library (via ADE). However this time, removing the un-openable books in the device, then switching off and on again allowed me to re-load successfully from ADE.
May be it was not an ADE v4.0 issue

Make sure you have the correct date and time BEFORE loading a book on via ADE.
By this, I mean that you manually input it, not just rely on connecting to wifi to have it auto correct. The device will only show the correct time while connected or perhaps somewhat afterwards, but, not permanently. So make sure you are not on wifi when manually setting the date/time.

This is about 90% of the time the problem i have with library books.

If the date and time are exactly right, input manually, the best way to get a book to work that didn't previously is as follows
1. delete book using the device, not connected to pc
2. make sure you don't have any expired library books on your device, delete all expired books
3. power off (not sleep, but a full power off) your kobo
4. make sure you've closed ADE, if it was open from before
5. turn on kobo, reconnect to pc
6. redownload books into ade
7. copy books to kobo
8. close ade
9. *properly*/ safely disconnect device

when i do these things, i rarely have a library book not work the first time, and even more rarely not work a second time.

just a tip, it's best to use ade 2.0..... after that version (or definely from version 3.0), there's a chance books you load will have the drm converted to a more complex drm in the future, with no option to stop this happening. if you only use library books, and don't own books with drm, you might not care, but otherwise you might want to downgrade.
i use 1.7, but i use linux and that's the one i can getting working with no hassle. imho, there is NO reason to use newer versions of ADE.

good luck!

Thank you for the tips.

The steps you describe in 1 to 9 were those I took after the download failed and were indeed successful. Next time I will check and ensure time is correct and do a power cycle before attempting to download (I normally just let the Kobo sleep rather than power off).
