5.1.0 bug in "search and replace" regex field

I have a large (202 char) regex saved in the search/replace tab. This was ok at v 5.0.1 and previous versions, but has stopped working at v 5.1.0. When this regex is selected now, the "Test result field" immediately shows "Invalid character at position 63".

For the moment, I have successfully rolled back to v 5.0.1.

The regex engine was changed in the bulk metadata dialog to match th erest of calibre, it's mostly compatible with the old engine, but not entirely so, what is the problem expression?

The problem expression, which removes the booktype from a title is:

Code:
([\([](?:epub|mobi|azw3*|prc|pdb|pdf|siPDF|rtf|cbr|fb2|(?:multi-)*html*|htmlz|tif|lit|odt|txt|docx*|lrf|[dmehpjlr].+,.+?)[]\)]|\.(?:epub|mobi|azw3*|prc|pdb|pdf|rtf|cbr|fb2|html*|lit|txt|docx*)$)
I'm sure there is a better way, but this works for me
