Black line on new Kobo Glo HD

Hi

I bought a Kobo Glo HD yesterday, today I noticed a thin line running from top to bottom around a third in from the right, it's noticeable on refresh as its white against the black refresh. It's also showing on the book cover when the kobo is asleep. I saw someone else had this line on a kobo Glo thread but I can't find it now.

Can anyone either tell me what's causing the line or link me to the thread it on?

The title of the thread is wrong, sorry, it's a white line that shows, tbh like a light bleed.

Where's this line supposed to be? I have attached a picture showing an almost black screen, I can't see any white line in any area at all. Maybe your device has some sort of dead pixels which is a whole line? Do you mind sharing a picture?

When I switch on the device on and off and it's refreshing ( doing the black and white changes a few times ) I still can't see any white line anywhere at the right...

I guess you can just return it or get it fixed but it's really frustrating after getting it brand new i guess...

I also got this photo when using the dictionary, sorry it seems to be sideways!

Look at the left, 1/3 down half way between the text and the word English it should be visible.

yeah according to your images, it's pretty easy to see. If i were to have the same issue I would have noticed it and would have complained. Being a brand new purchase I'd go and get a replacement...

Usually companies tend to try to avoid exchanging devices with bad pixels, however the amount of dead pixels usually is about 12 deadpixels max. i guess for your case it's pretty serious issue and I wouldn't try to open the device to fix it by yourself.

Thanks. Hubby's out tomorrow but he can take me back on Monday. I might ring the store tomorrow though, see if I can check if they have any as its Argos and they tend to only have one per store round here. Hopefully they will be fine, but you never know until you get there.

Overall I can see that there are quite a few people who have a dead pixel here and there (usually in the middle of the display somewhere) but just another guy who has similar yet even worse lines than you do...

I'd still recommend you to exchange for a new one, even if that means waiting till monday... Don't let them talk you into repairing .. I don't even want to know how long it'll be gone flying to kobo ...

Well another option also is, go to your retailer and show him this flaw. Maybe you can get some of your money back if you are willing to keep the device if those lines won't annoy you too much but there's always the risk that it'll get worse ...

You should get a replacement or a refund - that's a hardware fault. Let's hope the store has a replacement available on Monday.
