menu mods?

is there a way to add airplane mode to the drop-down menu on the pw1 (B01B version) like in the kindle 3? because i need to keep mine in offline mode or the batt is dead in a day... and it would be so much easier if i could have it im the drop-down menu

firmware 5.6.1.1
it did an auto update recently i have yet to re jb

*1 - The jailbreak should have survived, run the 'hot fix' and then re-install everything just like any other full image update.

*2 - 5.6.1.1 on the PW1 can be downgraded, see thread on that subject.

*3 - I don't know if it can be done, perhaps you can add it to "Kindle Menu" -- which, if you haven't seen it, replaces the menu bar with one of its own.

*4 - "battery dead in a day" - - that does not sound correct - - under what conditions?
Translation:
The battery in a Kindle is typically only good for about 4 hours of run time.
So you either have a very low capacity battery (and the Kindle is sleeping normally between page turns) or something that is preventing the Kindle from "going to sleep" in-between page turns.

Keep it on external power until that problem can be solved.
The Kindles can 'self destruct' trying to write to the flash memory with a very low capacity and/or deeply discharged battery.

*5 - Airplane mode is 'sticky' once enabled, it stays that way.
**Except** right after an OTA update.

ok got it to work hot fix did the job
but the kindle menu thing is not quite what i want id like to replace the goodreads button with an airplane mode button

I was wrong, it seems to be in the Javascript and related files.
And the Javascript is minimized - you'll need a tool to turn it into something readable.

There are threads here about replacing the 'store' button with other functions.
I think there is even a KUAL menu extension that does that for some purposes.

I suppose the same principle could be used to convert the 'good reads' button.

In outline:
You search the *.jar files for the (string formatted) function call you want to replace - I.E: whatever/wherever the 'airplane mode' mode is handled.

You search the *.jar files for the (string formatted) function call that does the 'goodreads' action.

You edit in the 'airplane mode' string to replace the 'goodreads' string.

It is just a fancy 'search and replace' task.

The details are explained here in a number of threads.

I would just use Aeris' KindleMenu -- it is a custom pulldown menu alternative to KUAL. Very nice, and includes a number of status icons including a WiFi (-slash-Airplane-mode) toggle.

That would be a 'stroke and tap' action - might be more effort than the O.P. wants to expend...

The goodreads stuff looks like it is buried in the 'search' feature.
It would be easier to replace the store button with the airplane mode toggle.

Note: I may be wrong about the above - I was reading this Javascript/css/html in its minified form - plus I am a little bit blind and cross-eyed (even before trying to read this minified cr..).
