kobo aura h2o first configuration fail

hi there
i'm french

I just bought a kobo aura h2o,
but impossible to configure my kobo aura h2o with the kobo desktop software.

When I plug the kobo aura h2o in the computer, the kobo desktop software starts configuration and stops at once and asks me to connect the e-reader (which is still connected).

I unplug and then reconnect/plug the e-reader but nothing happens, kobo desktop software no longer detects the e-reader, even windows 7 doesn't recognize the device and wants to format it.

I reset kobo aura h2o again and again without success.
basic reset and factory reset many many times but nothing works !
the same problem returns.

i dont know what to do

any body got an idea of what could be the problem ?

What type of computer? USB port (2.0, 3.0 ?) What is the computer chipset? Have you tried with a different USB cable, port, different computer?

well

my computer is an asus notebook k40ie series (4/5 years old)
(so) i think usb port are 2.0

i'm on windows 7

i have tried differents port but not differents cables nor different computer for the moment

i precise that just before trying to configure my kobo aura h2o,
i configured a kobo glo hd with sucess
(in fact i decided to change my kobo glo hd to an aura h2o to get a higher screen 6' -> 6.8')

maybe the desktop software "think" it's always the glo hd and try to put some wrong configuration on the aura h2o.

cause i also just tried to upgrade the firmware manually with instruction "in Direct Links to Kobo Firmware" section by unzip the archive ect ...
and it worked fine,
but as soon as i launch configration on desktop sofware something happen which seem to stop the process

so i think the problem comes from the desktop sofware which do something wrong
cause even win7 tell me to format the device after that

i can precise too that i try to format as sugest by win7
but it failed

Do you not have access to wifi? I find configuration by wifi consistently painless. The Kobo Desktop software is required for almost nothing (and definitely not required for setup).

And I'd try a different USB cable if at all possible. You'd be surprised how often that turns out to be the culprit. And what Meera said - wifi setup seems to be easiest/most consistent.

i have only access to a hotspot wifi but when i try to use this method
the kobo aura h2o show me a white screen, i dont see any web page to connect.
i try to refresh many times but the screen stay white.

i tried a different cable but nothing change.

so i tried again to upgrade the firmware manually with instruction "in Direct Links to Kobo Firmware" section by unzip the archive ect ...

and try the Registration Bypassing method
it worked fine and finally can use my kobo aura h2o
and get some e-book with calibre

but if for any reason i launch the kobo desktop software and try to sync with it
all break down

i dont know if the problem come from the software or maybe my kobo is defective (cause i got no problem with the glo hd)

hi again

i'm back from the shop and after telling my problem i could change my kobo aura h2o for a new.

back to home i started the configuration process and everything worked well.

so i think my kobo aura h2o was defective since the beginning and i haven't been lucky.

problem solved
