PDF Metadata (Info dictionary and XMP)

Hi.

How exactly Calibre reads metadata from PDF files?
For what tags it looks?

It would be handy to have all necessary metadata embedded in the file but I can't figure out how to embed more than title, author and tags.
I've tried to add custom Info dictionary tags but they were ignored.
I've also imported PDF with XMP metadata but it also was ignored.

I am looking to embed ids, published date, publisher and languages.

calibre reads and writes *all* metadata in the XMP block of PDF files. Simply use a tool that can dump the XMP block from pdf files to see how it does it after using save to disk on a pdf file in calibre.

Now I've managed to make it work.
