Metadata in two separate frames
When I try to edit single metadata, now I have two separate frames: one with author, title and so on and another with formats, cover.

I edit preferences to put the cover in the same frame, but nothing happens. I want basic metadata and covers in the same frame. I've tried in any of the preferences and I can't find what I have touched to change this. The calibre version is 2.36

At first I was going to say that you had a Metadata edit session and the Information pane open on top...

Then I noticed the formats area Icons How the heck did you detach-replicate that fixed area? Is that a Screen Capture gone way south?

Please tell us ALL about your Calibre setup

OS
CPU and Graphics card(driver), RAM

You switched to Compact MDE
(See image)

Change that to default (or All on 1 tab)
