Added book not saving in collection
When I add a book to a collection and sync it, the book is removed from the collection.
I don't know what is causing this. |

Are you adding the book to a collection on the device itself? The calibre / Kobo integration works on the assumption that calibre is the 'master' for all collection management on the Kobo and will update the device to match calibre's list of collections.
I think there is a device driver option to prevent this, but am currently not at my PC and can't check. |

I am not using calibre to add the book to the collection.
The issue seem to happen with Kobo cloud syncing. |

Is the problem with sideloaded books or books from Kobo? For books from Kobo, the collections will sync to the other devices and to the iOS and Android apps. From my testing this works, but there might be a condition that it doesn't. If the date on the devices are wrong, that can cause some syncing problems.

This is issue is with books from Kobo.
From what I can tell these are Kobo books are no longer sold on the website anymore or under a different publisher. |

I'm having the same problem, and becoming increasingly frustrated. Kobo Customer Care's solution in my experience has always been to replace a faulty device, but the same thing happens on my phone, too.

Yes, this happened to me several times on my Aura HD. Synching sometimes destroyed my collections, but only the books I added via the Kobo desktop. The sideloaded-via-Calibre books always remained in their collections. Eventually, I gave up on the Kobo desktop and now I only use Calibre to create collections. Maybe consider using Calibre. I was reluctant at first, as it just seemed too big and complicated, but then I just sat down one day, read a few manuals on using Calibre, and I'm glad I did.

How do I turn off collection syncing? I'll start using calibre instead.

You can turn of syncing of collections to the Kobo server by adding "SyncShelves=false" to the "ApplicationPreferences" section of the config file.
