Searching timestamp column
When I plug in my device, Calibre shows a column labelled "Date", and the tooltip says that the lookup/search name is called "timestamp"... but no matter what I do, I can't seem to search using it. Even searching for "timestamp:true" returns no results.
(What I'm actually trying to do - in case I've fallen afoul of the X-Y problem - is to find which devices I've since modified in my library after adding it to my device, so I can update the version on my device. Since I manually update the "date" column in Calibre every time I make a change to a book, I'm hoping I can do a search of "date:>timestamp" or some such.) |

Ah -- you can't compare two columns like that. And you can't compare two book records (the device one and the library one).
I suggest using a tag, or perhaps the Reading List plugin. Last edited by eschwartz; 09-30-2015 at 12:42 AM. |

The manual has examples of searching on the date field

Where are you getting timestamp from? The lookup/search name for the Date column is date and for the published column is pubdate.

When I have my device plugged in (a Kobo Aura HD in case that makes a difference) there's a column on the device page called "Date", and the tooltip says its lookup/search name is "timestamp".

Ah you mean in the device view. Yeah searching in the device view is far more limited than in the library view. IIRC device view only supports plain substring searches.

ivanm: The way I handle what you are doing is with the Reading List plugin. With this you can create various types of lists including one that syncs to a device. This can happen automatically when the device is connected. For me, the list will also clear itself after the sync. That way, when I add a book to calibre or modify a book, I add it to this list. On the next connection, everything in the list is sent to the device.

There are several options about the syncing. But, when the book is sent, it is sent just like if you sent the book manually. For my lists, I use "Add/overwrite all list items to the device" and "Clear this list after a sync to the device. With these options, the books get sent and the list is cleared.

Which could result in multiple copies of the book being present on the device though, doesn't it?

I should add that resending a book that is already on a Kobo device only works properly if there are no structure changes. The books aren't reprocessed by the device, so any changes to the ToC or the internal file structure can cause problems. Plus, the metadata is not reread. If the changes are spelling, CSS or formatting, it works. |

@ivanm
Remember, you can still SORT that column My device (Astak) does not have a Timezone setting. Last night, it was returning Tomorrow's (-0) date-time |
