Directory missing after adding .opi file to .rar
After adding .opi files to .rar to enable conversion the directory holding the files disappears from 'Add Files'. This happens most times when trying to convert.

@elfed - do you mean .opf files. Apparently the .opi file type is associated with Avaya (a contact management system) which AFAIK has nothing to do with the Calibre book manager.
If by 'Add Files' you mean the Add Files to selected book records function, then. if the file type you're trying to add is not a ebook type recognised by calibre then you need to set the file type selector to All files. On Windows the file type selector is a drop down list to the right of the File name. The default is a list of those ebook file types previously mentioned - .opf and .opi are NOT ebook file types BR |

Sorry it is .opf files. As advised I added the .opf file to .rar file which converts it to .mobi. However when I use 'Add Boooks from a single directory' the directory holding the files does not show.

@elfed - did you try changing the file type selector to All files.
Or maybe the rar file has acquired a hidden attribute... whatever. BR |

So let me see if I understand. You opened the .rar in a tool like WinRar, added the opf to that file, and then resaved the rar file?
Then when you attempt to add the newly edited rar file to calibre you can't find it. |

I'm a bit dense right now. Let me see if I understand.
You have a RAR file that contains something. You create an OPF file and add that to the RAR. What DOES the RAR file contain? What do you put in the OPF file? What do you hope to achieve with this additional file? What calibre menu item are you then using to add files? |

@elfed - what happens if you drag/drop the RAR from Windows Explorer to the book list.
@PeterT - when you a add a RAR that only contains jpgs, calibre stores it as a CBR, that would imply calibre inspects the content of the RAR. Like you I am not sure what purpose there would be in adding an OPF file to a RAR. BR |

I'm converting a .opf file to .mobi by by adding the .opf file to a new .rar file in the existing directory.
'Add Books' can not find the directory. Copy and paste using Windows Explorer works |

I give up. The info you give us is useless. Hopefully some more patient person will be able to diagnose your problem based on the very limited info you share.

@elfed - AFAIK in and of themselves OPF files are not convertible. They are found in EPUB files, see ==>> 3.2.2 Open Packaging Format 2.0.1
Perhaps rather than tell us doesn't work you could tell us what you're trying to do? BR |
