Exclamation Information about cooperation with Onyx International

Dear Clients and associates!

Due to the fact that the inkBOOK is incorrectly associated with Onyx BOOX brand, we want to inform you that inkBOOK is a property of Arta Tech company. It has nothing in common with Onyx BOOX and Onyx International. We take full responsibility for InkBOOK, including the software updates and warranty support door-to-door.


InkBOOK is an answer for problems that Onyx International have faced internationally. In order to satisfy our clients and improve the quality of our products, Arta Tech decided to cease the cooperation with Onyx International and start a new, own brand - inkBOOK.

As a result to those changes, a new inkBOOK Onyx was launched. Please note that ‘Onyx’ is only the name of the model. It has an E Ink Carta™ display. It is the most recent technology, imitating real paper and offering 50% better contrast in comparison to the last generation of displays. Soon, inkBOOK offer will be widened with an inkBOOK Classic. The launch is planned for the 3rd quarter of 2015. In the 4th quarter, we are planning to launch a model for the most demanding readers.

We would like to emphasize that the problems affecting Onyx International and Onyx BOOX brand will not affect the inkBOOK brand. At the same time, all Onyx BOOX products sold by Arta Tech will still be covered by the warranty. Arta Tech has got a lot of experience in the global arena. Our main goal is to meet our customers’ needs.

Thank you for the trust you put in us – we will not disappoint you. We are sure that soon we will all be pleased with the quality and comfort of using inkBOOKs.

Not that I have ever seen one since september last year !!!
The device is OK, but the firmware is terrible !!
Very dissapointed.....

No wonder that it's incorrectly associated with Onyx BOOX brand if it's got 'Onyx' in the name. Why not call it ArtaTech inkBOOK? It has nothing in common with Onyx BOOX but is sold on... onyx-boox.com (aka Onyx Europe). Mind boggles...

Other than that I'm a very demanding customer so I expect the new model to come with 9.7" screen

I don't know who is in charge of Corporate Communication in your firm, but whoever it is is doing an extremely bad job at it.

First of all, if you want to have your own branded device, it would be very clever no to use "Onyx" in the branding. It might also be legally clever, if not even necessary. I cannot imagine that a decent lawyer advised you on the branding question, and certainly noone did on this post.

Second: do not wash your dirty laundry in public. Your post may give a bad image of Onyx International, but it certainly gives a detestable one of ArtaTech.

Dear aceflor,

the aim of this information is to provide our customers with two main messages:
1. Although we are no longer in cooperation with Onyx International, we will continue our technical support for all the customers who have purchased the Onyx BOOX products through our distribution network.
2. We will develop our own line of products from now on. The first one is already released, the second one - inkBOOK Classic - will be available in autumn.

As for the name, it was chosen based on the color and it was while we were still cooperating with Onyx International.

It seens that the inkbook is not made by onyx,but it called inkbook onyx... I think it will be better to call it inkbook boyue.

How does the InkBOOK compare with the Onyx T68 on:

1. Lowest setting available for the frontlight (T68 lowest setting is too bright)
2. Touchscreen accuracy (on T68 even after firmware updates, touchscreen accuracy is still off by an average of 5mm around all edges on my device)

(I don't care about fullscreen or immersive mode capabilities, that is irrelevant to my usages.)

I just got confirmation that ArtaTech is not going to produce fimware upgrades anymore:

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide any firmware updates for Onyx BOOX, due to problems with Onyx International. Of course, we are still going to cover the warranty for all Onyx BOOX products sold by Arta Tech.

Our access to ONYX servers has been canceled by our former Chinese partner, that is why we are unable to launch any new upgrade and updates of firmware.


So much for waiting all these months for a replacement of the horrible firmware they shipped it with....

Now I will have to install the Booxtor firmware. Not for the faint of heart...

The Booxtor FW is easily installed and works really well. Sincerely, Arta Tech's attitude is just subpar. And then the nerve to post this Thread under the Onyx Forum...
