Aura H2O Removing header and footer on H2O

Hi,

I have a H20 on the latest firmware, I have read in the past that you can tweak the settings to add an option to remove the header and footer at the top so you have no wasted space.
Did I quick google and found some basic instructions saying to alter a config file in the kobo folder and add some extra lines. I have done this but still do not have the option, even after rebooting the kobo.

Am I missing something extra I need to do ?

Have you opened Settings - Reading settings and unchecked the Show header and footer box?

Thats the problem, the option doesn't show.

I think the option won't show unless you edit your Kobo eReader.conf file to add either 1 or both of these (I think certain readers needed one place, others needed it in the other place, so I just used both):

[Reading]
FullScreenReading=true

[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true

thanks will give that a go, I have only added the Featuresettings one so far. Is it really just the config file you need to edit and nothing else ?

yes it is only the config file you need to edit, and it is FullScreenReading=true, that you need to add.

Just tried and still will not work :-( . It already had a section for [Reading] so just added it to that

This worked on my Aura (not an H2O):

[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true

Is your file type a kepub?

cheers all working now, the site I had copied it from didnt have the S on the end of readingsettings. Only issue now is that the last character of each line has been chopped off.

There is a very simple reason it's not there; there are bugs with it; it's not ready to be released.

It isn't exactly hard to add the option at the moment. And you only actually need to add the option in the "FeatureSettings" section. Once that is there, an option is added to the Reading setting page to show or hide the title and footer.

Of course, it would be easier if Kobo did this for you. I assume they will once they fix the bugs and are convinced it will help a sufficient number of their users. As the feature has been in the firmware for a while, I suspect the latter is the issue.
