Fighting Mad by Hank Madison, a pseudonym for the prolific multi-genre author Donald S. Rowland (ISFDB, Science Fiction Encyclopedia), is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, starring a town marshall who plans a revenge against the outlaws who double-crossed him by planting a false tip-off which let them get away with theft and murder (well, probably actually just manslaughter) in front of all the townspeople, free courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint, who are e-printing it from its 1967 edition originally out from Robert Hale.

A man on a mission…

Town Marshall Lee Carrick has the whole of Tolliver's Camp lying in wait for the local outlaws.

Following a tip off from small-time rustler Charlie Waggoner, who claims an attack from the gang is imminent, Carrick is ready and waiting for Buck Foster and his mob of troublemakers.

However the outlaws never show and whilst the town is distracted, Buck Foster’s gang steal a gold shipment headed for Tolliver's Camp and leave a man dead.

Carrick has been deceived and double-crossed by the outlaws in front of the whole town.

With his pride severely wounded, Carrick is desperate to redeem himself and earn back the trust of his townsfolk.

Filled with hatred and a strong desire for revenge, Carrick becomes determined to track down the two-timing Charlie Waggoner and Buck Foster’s gang.

It’s time someone put a stop to them once and for all.

A head strong Carrick rides out alone to meet his enemies head on – he’d rather die fighting than give up now.
