New issue happening in VIEW window with calibre 2.33
I just downloaded and installed the newest version of calibre and I'm getting this when I close the VIEW window. After installing the newest version, I also installed the relevant ALF software. (I like to have my Amazon books downloaded into the Kindle App, whereupon I then load them into calibre.)
IO error:[errno #32] broken pipe calibre, version 2.33.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>IOError</b>:[Errno 32] Broken pipe calibre 2.33 isfrozen: True is64bit: True Darwin-14.4.0-x86_64-i386-64bit Darwin ('64bit', '') ('Darwin', '14.4.0', 'Darwin Kernel Version 14.4.0: Thu May 28 11:35:04 PDT 2015; root:xnu-2782.30.5~1/RELEASE_X86_64') Python 2.7.9 OSX: ('10.10.4', ('', '', ''), 'x86_64') Successfully initialized third party plugins: DeDRM && EpubMerge Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Applications/calibre.app/Contents/Resources/Python/lib/python2.7/site.py", line 209, in main return run_entry_point() File "/Applications/calibre.app/Contents/Resources/Python/lib/python2.7/site.py", line 114, in run_entry_point return getattr(pmod, func)() File "site-packages/calibre/utils/ipc/worker.py", line 199, in main IOError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe This happens, as far as I can tell, only when I CLOSE the VIEW window, after looking the ebook over. I have a MacBook Pro with 8 gigs of RAM, and running OS X Yosemite 10.10.4. I appreciate any help or suggestions anyone may have in order to fix this problem. Thank you. That error usually indicates some other program is interfering with calibre. The most common culprit is an antivirus (usually reported on Windows).
Something appears to be deleting the temporary files calibre creates when unpacking the book for the viewer. |

That error is harmless. It just indicates that flushing stdout and stderr just before the process exits is failing in the viewer process. Just ignore it.
I'll add some code to suppress it for then next release. |

Thanks, Kovid. ![]() I thought I might have done something wrong and hadn't installed a component of the DRM package correctly, or else that something had not download completely when I installed calibre and Alf. |
