Summer doldrums

This time of year seems to be rather slow for new books, at least from my favorite authors. It seems like there is a cluster of books that come out in May, then another cluster in August, then October. Thus my June and July purchases tend to be a lot of backlist books. This past month, I picked up a number of Elliot Kay's books (really liked Poor Man's Fight), To the Gates of Richmond by Stephen Sears, Jim Butcher's Codex series, some backlist history books and John Ringo Black Tide series.

This buying pattern is one of the differences that ebook stores have brought about for me. Most brink and morter stores only carried a limited selection of backlist books, so I probably won't have bought the Elliot Kay books, the Codex books or the Black Tide series.

I'm looking forward to a slew of July releases, Go Set a Watchman at the top of the list.

The Summer doldrums are almost over. I am currently reading the latest by David Weber, which came out this past week. On August 4th I have five pre-ordered ebooks coming out - a backlist book by Tanya Huff (first of the Quarter's series), School for Sidekicks by Kelly McCullough (should be fun), Veiled, the latest Alex Verus book by Benedict Jacka, Fable, a new book by Jim Hines, and Magic Shifts, the latest Kate Daniels by Illona Andrews. I also have four more pre-ordered ebooks coming in September.
