Kobo Touch Update 3.1.6

Dear Kobo Readers,

I can't login !
Omg recent update 3.1.6 6/10/15, messed up my kobo
If I ever get back to the book I bought and was reading, I'll be happy.

1)Home page is almost blank.
2)Cannot find via search,books I know are on the device.
3)Collections are non-existant.
4)Sync date is only a time.
5)Annotations,percent read never worked properly,ever;all at 0% except last annotation.
6)Web browserflashing screen annoying.Been beta for like 6 years now.
7)Constantly pulling reader to the book store,instead of my library,more clicks.
8)Why do I have to keep hunting for the time.It should be everywhere !!!
9)Keep working hard Kobo.Good job.

Well it seemed to repair itself since I connected it to my computer.
Like it had a brain Not.
Found the book I was reading and home page seems normal.
so if i only lost collections,no big deal.

p.s.- Does ne1 know how to turn off preview on the home page?

Only time will tell;so back to the out of doors.

You might like to learn HOW to use the smiley's on this forum.

The tiled home screen changes as you use the device. It starts fairly empty, but each time you open a book, play a game or various other things, a tile for that will be created.

2)Cannot find via search,books I know are on the device.
3)Collections are non-existant.

It sounds like you had a corrupt database on the device. It was probably running on the copy in memory and the reboot to install the update forced a read of the database and detected the problem.

4)Sync date is only a time.

It shows a time if the sync happened today. Otherwise, the date.

5)Annotations,percent read never worked properly,ever;all at 0% except last annotation.

A known bug that I keep hoping Kobo will fix. There is a workaround involving replacing a directory with a file.

6)Web browserflashing screen annoying.Been beta for like 6 years now.

It will always be a beta so that Kobo can state they don't support it. But, they do fix bugs.

I'm not sure what you mean here. The only time I go to the store is when I choose the option for it.

Because constantly updating an eink screen is a problem so it only gets displayed when you tap the top of the home screen or libraries. Or bring up the menus when reading

What preview? I don't have any that I would call a "preview" on the home page.

You can dismiss most any book covers or other tiles on home screen exsept sync, with a long touch until open or dismiss tile options pops up. This includes segested books tile your wanting to delete. It is displayed again after you finish reading a book.

And if you want to dismiss the Sync tile too, you can use the KoboUtilities plugin for Calibre to do so.

I suggest, while you're there, setting up your collections in Calibre, instead of relying on them being present on the device. That means they're trivial to restore if you have a device problem, buy a replacement device, etc. There's a sticky in this forum detailing how to do this.

I think you're talking about the search bar. That can be fixed by patching the firmware; see the patching threads.

Ah, I didn't figure out that that's what was meant.

If you search from the homescreen, it defaults to the Kobo store. If you search from your library, it defaults to your library. If you search from within a book, it defaults to searching within the current read. That's not particularly ridiculous or egregious behaviour IMO. It might be nice to have a fine-tuning setting, but as you say, it can be patched anyhow.
