Boyue T62+ Dictionary Issues

I have followed these instructions to the letter and tried multiply times to get a dictionary installed with no success.

Quote:
Installation instructions:
To install the dictionary on your ICARUS Illumina HD, follow these steps:
a) In the Root of the e-reader, create a folder called Dict (capital D, small capital ict).
b) Download the desired StarDict dictionaries. Usually a StarDict dictionary is an archive that needs to be extracted. Extract the archive and you will find a file folder that includes several files.
c) Create a folder on your e-reader inside the Dict folder of the e-reader with the name of that language (e.g. English). Copy all files in the archive to that folder.
e) Once the file folder has been copied to the Dict folder, shutdown your e-reader.
f) Start your e-reader. The newly installed dictionary will now work.

Oxford_English_Dictionary_2nd_Ed.ifo
Oxford_English_Dictionary_2nd_Ed.idx
Oxford_English_Dictionary_2nd_Ed.dict.dz

I have placed the 3 files in to the /mnt/sdcard/Dict folder and tried /mnt/sdcard/Dict/English folder as well. With no luck. Gives me "No words in dictionary". But if I click the gear setting it does list the dictionary.

stardict-Oxford_English_Dictionary_2nd_Ed.-2.4.2.tar.bz2

Ive even left the files zipped and placed in the Dict folder to no avail. This gives me "No words in dictionary" but when I click the gear setting it says "no dictionary to check".

Is there anyone that can offer some advice, hope or sanity on this issue.

Works for me on a T61 clone. Possible problems: incompatible dictionary (try it with just a single one downloaded from Icarus), or your reader app is anything but the built in Adobe-based one.

AFAIK, some Android dictionary apps can't handle compressed .dict.dz dictionaries.

Download 7Zip (or another archiver that can unpack .gz files), extract the dict file from Oxford_English_Dictionary_2nd_Ed.dict.dz, and delete the .dz file.

Did exactly what you said to do. Extracted the dict.dz file, deleted the dz file. That left .dict, .idx and .ifo files. Tried a couple things. Placed them in the Dict folder. Opened the dictionary app on the ereader. It sees the dictionary. Type in a word and get "no words in dictionary". Tried placing the 3 files inside their own folder and placing that inside the Dict folder. No joy.

This is very frustrating. Ill try a different dictionary maybe something wrong with this one. Arrrg!

I've been having problems with the Concise English Dictionary files as well, other dictionaries work better.

Those files seem to work ok in GoldenDict, which will work with some reader apps

I have a Energy Systems Pro+ which seems to be the same kit. Their instructions say to put the dictionary in a folder named "dict" in the main storage. I did this and, like others, opening the dictionary app itself (after a re-boot as instructed) produced nothing.

However if I open a book and highlight a word a pop-up gives me a "dictionary" option and selecting that does look up and display the word from the installed dictionary. So the installed dictionary integrates with the book reader but not with the "Dictionary" app.

Neither works for me. Thru App Drawer or thru inbook lookup.
