Creating links in an existing epub-text?

Hello Everybody,

I'm a newbie from Belgium and allthough I have quite a while a Sony Reader, it is the first time I try to use Calibre to edit an (existing) epub.
So I presume this is the right place to start...(I hope)
I have a question concerning creating links in an epub-text:
Is there a possibility to point to a specific place (or in this case) a word or sentence, so I can switch back and forth by clicking on it?
There are footnotes in the text (without numbers, only asterisk) and I'm trying to make them 'clickable' to the index at the end of the book.
Any suggestions/manual how to do this, they will be more than welcome....
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Chris.

Yes, see Pablo's Quick-'n-dirty EPUB tutorial in our wiki: EPub_Tutorial#Footnotes

It was written for Sigil before calibre included an editor, but is still very useful as a general EPUB editing guide, and includes a section describing how footnotes should look.

Also, w3schools is an excellent reference for HTML in general, and what you are concerned with here is the HTML "link" tag, explained here: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp
