Unhappy Validation in epub
How can this be fixed? Does anyone know?

ERROR OEBPS/Text/index.html 5 105 value of attribute "xml:lang" is invalid; must be an RFC 3066 language identifier

Change the value of xml:lang in that file to a valid language code. I forget if it expects underscores (e.g. en_US) or hyphens (e.g. en-US).

Edit: Hyphens.

xml:lang="en"

That works. No need to use en_us or en-us.

If you are not using specific ePub 3 features in your eBook, than do not bother to go from ePub 2 to ePub 3. There's no reason to do so at all. Most reading programs/apps don't handle ePub 3 well.

Well, there's always the option of a double calibre conversion, epub (3) --> mobi --> epub. That would probably do the trick. It's probably not what you had in mind but it would qualify as 'easy'.

Now you've been and gone and changed the rules! I thought my task, should I choose to accept it, was to start with an epub3 and end up with a pure epub2 with no traces of epub3

It's OK Jacki... it's written in the forum rules (somewhere) that there can not be a discussion of epub3 without Wolfie jumping up and down saying that they are useless. lol

In some ways its kinda comforting that we can always rely on him!!
