T62 setup problem
I have finally received my T62D and was surprised to find out that Google Play store wasn't installed. I copied the APK onto the device and installed it. It now shows as installed but the icon is greyed out and I cannot open it. I bought this specifically so that I could run Calibre Companion and Moon Reader+ Pro. Any idea how why the Play store icon would be greyed out and what I need to do to fix it.
I don't know why I would want to root this device as it already has a reasonable version of Android running on it and will supposedly access Play Store if I can figure out how to get it installed succesffuly. Those were my reasons for rooting in the past........Jackie |

To instal Google Play Store and get it to work properly, you need to root your device, install Play Store and several other Google apks, and then change permissions on them so they will work. However, there's an easy way to do that! Follow the instructions here:https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=245888
nightboy has things pretty well automated for you there. If for some reason that doesn't work, I can take you through the process, step by step. Tip: If you try those instructions, you need to run them in Windows with your T62 connected to your computer's USB port. Last edited by downeaster59; 06-30-2015 at 02:22 PM. |

I guess I will have to try that. From the videos on You Tube and other information on the web it implied that you could directly install Google Play. I did sort of get it installed, I just can't run it :-)

The way I mentioned is the only way I know. There may other ways to install Play Store, but I haven't found them yet!
