The problem is, Katie, that you could only know how long the battery lasts if you were to read until you get the "Low Battery" warning, and who does that? I just recharge my Kindle pretty much at random every couple of weeks, so in all honesty I have no idea how long the battery lasts. Also, bear in mind that leaving WiFi turned on will roughly halve the battery life, so you need to take that into account, too. Another factor to consider is that the capacity of a lithium battery is highly dependent on temperature, so you'll need to know the temperature of the environment they're reading in, and understand the specific way that the battery discharge rate varies with temperature. Do you have that information available?
It's going to be extremely difficult for you to analyse any data that people give you in a way that will allow you to extract meaningful information from it. Last edited by HarryT; 06-25-2015 at 10:22 AM. |

I sometime read up to 7 hrs a day. I keep my light at 10, and I have gone 3 weeks with out charging and it wasn't low then. I use the WIFI about 2 times a day to sync and update, but turn it off when not doing so. Battery life for the PW2 is great.

I typically read 1, 2 or 3 hours a day. I'd hate to try to guess which is more common for me. I read when I feel like it.
I charge my Paperwhite every Saturday. It's usually about 80% to 85% full, or seems t be going by the gauge. It's hard to really be sure from that visual gauge. I have 2 Paperwhites and a Voyage and I usually read on the Voyage, which doesn't get as good battery life. It's sometimes down to as low as 70% or 75%. I have noticed that when I'm not using one of these things it goes down more than half as much in that week as it does when I'm using it. I do leave Wifi on all the time so that probably accounts for it. These things get such good battery life that I long ago decided simply not to care. I sold my first Kindle, a Kindle 3, to a friend, who's still using it and it still gets about the same battery life it always did. I gave my Kindle Touch to another friend and she says the battery is still as good as new on it. These things hold up. I have a bunch of neighbors with Kindles, some several years old and they're all in good shape. Again, I just don't see anything to worry about. Barry |

I'm not obsessive enough to time each reading session. Some are long but some are short. It's long enough that I never run out of battery.
