Fiction about odd occupations
I've been watching "Der Tatortreiniger" lately. It's about a German crime scene cleaner (Heiko "Schotty" Schotte ) who has odd interactions with the family, freinds and neighbours of the victims. It's very funny in a surreal way.
I'd love to have something like that in book form to read. The only thing that comes to mind is the Barney Thomson books ("The Long Midnight Of Barney Thomson", etc.), which I enjoyed tremendously. Any suggestions? Last edited by bfisher; 07-02-2015 at 07:39 PM. Reason: spelling |

Oh, I think I have a couple at home .... how "lite" are you interested in reading? I think the books I've seen are more in the "urban fantasy lite" genre than more hardcore mystery/thriller.
I'll check in once I get home. |

Here's one, although I don't know if it's a style you're interested in:

Found another one (which is the one I was remembering when I saw your post) that had been a freebie on Amazon. Potential trigger warning: it's listed as "Christian fiction", so there's always the possibility of proselytizing or being overly preachy.
Hazardous Duty: Squeaky Clean Mysteries, by Christy Barritt. |

The Club of Queer Trades, G K Chesterton, 1905
Dated of course, but entertaining. Several short stories about people and their very unusual occupations. Also, it's in the public domain (he died in 1936). |

If you like mysteries, the Junior Bender books by Timothy Hallinan feature a professional burglar who solves mysteries for other criminals.
