Alternative to Duokan
Ive recently jailbroken my old K4 and installed Duokan 2015, I like the collection interface (with book images) but the size is an issue.
Is there an alternative epub reader that has cover view and is decent? Everyone seems to suggest KOreader but that didnt seem to have a cover view which was one of the main reasons I wanted a different OS (and epub support for smaller filesizes). Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

"Coverview" here is provided by a separate Kindle add-in.
Launching KOreader from the listing(s) of the books present is a separate KOreader add-in. KOreader's view of the book organization on your Kindle is based on the directory structure, it does not use the "Collections" database on the Kindle. We do have an add-in that will create/maintain the Kindle's collections database, based on the directory structure of the documents on the Kindle. Here, the features you are interested in are not jumbled together in one (mostly stolen) glop of code. - - - - - Having a K4 may limit your choices of add-ins here, since its keyboard is different than either the physical or the touch keyboard devices. I.E: Add-ins for the K4 that need user keyboard interaction must be specifically written for the K4. Such as the KOreader / Liberator dual of add-ins. - - - - - Note that Doukan **is not** a separate OS, its a separate GUI. Also note that Doukan **is not** a product of this web-site. Doukan is a commercial venture of the Chinese, get any support you need from them (after all, they are making the money from it). - - - - Morning rant finished. Yes I know about Duokan and the dislike of it here which is why im trying to find an alternative that does what I want.
Do you happen to have any links to the coverview add-in at all? Ive googled it but cant find any mention. |

knc1 -- do you mean kpvbooklet? I don't think the screensavers hack does anything of the sort -- although it might see those documents to make screensavers out of.
KPVBooklet is mentioned, albeit not given very good mention, on the KOReader thread. |

The description might be better in its repository page. But the screensaver's cover view can automatically display the cover of the currently open book as the screensaver. Another thing I keep forgetting - this is a K4 the poster is asking about. |

Thanks for the help both, Ive relented and removed Duokan and just gone back to normal kindle OS with screensavers (book covers on sleep is nice).
KPVBooklet would have been good but not for K4NT sadly and I cant find anything similar, liberator is just too basic. I'm not replacing my ageing K4 yet as it still works so well but the page buttons are starting to skip multiple pages at times so doubt it'll be too long before its retired. |
