Books gone after update????

Okay, so I wanted to add some books to Calibre, as per usual when I open the programme I get the new version available pop-up. Now I don't always update right away, but it's been a couple months maybe since I last updated so I decide to.

I click open calibre after it finished and all my books are gone. The library is totally empty. Over 400 books.

So before I go through the hassle of re-adding them individually, and updating all that metadata... I thought I'd ask.
Is there any way to restore my library?

Lucky for me, I have a backup file on one drive as I was sorting books into separate files and didn't want to delete anything until I was done, otherwise I'd be extremely upset.

I am using an Acer laptop running Windows 8.1 with all updates current. I have been using calibre for years and this is the first time I've ever had this happen after an update, it concerns me that I can lose my entire library in the blink of an eye.

@Guinan - search the drive for the file "metadata.db". Wherever it is, is where your library is. Which likely as not, is not where you expect it to be.

OR - Which version of calibre were you using. If you were using portable and you installed 32 or 64 bit then you would see what you're seeing. In this case the library is in where ever you have calibre portable installed.
