Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/ePub) Chasing the Sun [Xtian US Civil War Conflict Romance]
Chasing the Sun by Tracie Peterson is the 1st in her Land of the Lone Star series of f/m historical western romances set in a post-Civil War Texas landscape, this installment dealing with a conflict between a newer settler family and a returning soldier, both of whom have claims to a ranch that was affected by the wartime displacements, free courtesy of Christian publisher Baker's Bethany House imprint.
This one seems to be rather "inspirational" in tone, going from the customer reviews, one of which says that as a Christian reader herself who enjoyed a strong Christian viewpoint, she nevertheless felt that it seemed a bit more on the preachy side than she usually liked. Aside from that, readers also praised the inclusion of Spanish and Comanche characters and culture. YMMV. Currently free, apparently for a while as one of Baker's recent rotation of long-term 1st-in-series introductory freebies @ B&N (may also drop in the UK), Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), and ChristianBook (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide. Description Hannah is desperate for help... William is determined to regain his family's land... When her father disappears in war-torn Mississippi, Hannah Dandridge finds herself responsible not only for her younger siblings but also for the Texas ranch her father recently acquired. A marriage of convenience could ease her predicament... but is it the true desire of her heart? Wounded soldier William Barnett returns home only to find out that his family's ranch has been seized. Though angered at this turn of events, he's surprised to discover that it is a beautiful young woman with amazing fortitude who is struggling to keep the place running. Despite these circumstances, Hannah and William form an uneasy truce... and an undeniable attraction builds between them. In a land where loyalties are divided in a country ravaged by war, is there any hope that the first blush of love can survive? Last edited by ATDrake; 06-11-2015 at 02:41 PM.
