Despite huge "too read" lists how many others reread?

For favorite authors I tend to reread now and again, in particular if it has been some time since I've read a series that has a new book out.

Other times, it seems like I can't get into anything new but devour a couple of old favorites. That seems to put me in the mood to try a new author.

Wondering if that is normal for most or is just my own habit.

Here.
Doing it right now. I finished a new four part series and while reorganizing the reader's books I saw an old favorite. So, I'm rereading it.
Good reads are still good reads even if you know how they play out.

I'm almost done rereading the Hhonor Harrington series, by David Weber. I reread stuff all the time. It's like comfort food.

I have enough unread books to last me probably 3 lifetimes at this point (or more), yet I still also re-read favorites, or older books that I stumble on that I remember enjoying from 20+ years.

And yes, it's just like comfort food. Or those comfort movies when you can't sleep and you put one on and fall asleep within 5 minutes.

I also have a huge TBR List. Yet I still love to reread old favorites. They have become friends and family.

Sometimes. Mostly not though.

But then I don't really have a huge "to read list" either. I don't do that to myself. Lists have to be finished. If I have no chance of ever finishing it ... I'm not starting it.

I'm mainly a free-range reader. You know... sort of laissez-faire. A flibbertigibbet—a will-o'-the-wisp—a clown.

Without the calories!

Yes, the TBR pile is monstrous but sometimes I just need an ole favorite to read, well, just because.

I reread often.

I have favorite books which are stress relievers for me.

I also reread the earlier books in a series when a new book comes out, or reread a story that had a different take on the circumstances presented in something I just read.

I reread quite a bit, Of course, right now I'm rereading (as I can get to them) stories by authors like A. Bertram Chandler, Keith Laumer, etc., that I last read in the 60s and it has been so long they're almost new to me.

Exactly.
Sometimes you're in the mood for a visit to familiar haunts.
Books, music, even movies.

Huge TBR pile. I'm in the middle of a reread of the Lensman books. The kindle version sucks. It looks like OCR and no editing after that at all.
