Need audiobook recommendations for work!

So yes, I'm new. Hi all. Friend of mine pointed me this way saying it'd be helpful. I have a job where I'm allowed headphones- most folk listen to music, but I prefer books. Catch is I've exhausted my library, and keep running into the same problem. I'm after 'popcorn' books. I tried checking out 'Top 100" lists, but they're full of books that, rather than being entertaining, are 'revolutionary,' 'redefined a genre,' or 'are just plain old.' I've got nothing against something psychological, or philosophical- When I can spare the brain power to enjoy it. But at work I can't dedicate most of my mind to a story. I'm out seeking 'fun' books, where they're meant to be entertaining rather than make me contemplate anything. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, either'd be great! For reference, stuff I've enjoyed: Dresden Files (Until Harry got too powerful.) The Belgariad. Starship Troopers. Anything Discworld. The star wars stuff has more or less left me cold, mostly because it's usually poorly written. And I'm not interested in the Game of Thrones stuff or Wheel of Time. Can't get into those no matter how I try. Anyone got any recommendations? |

Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. You'll love Oberon's voice. Oberon is an Irish wolfhound. Urban fantasy, if you liked Dresden you'll like this. http://www.audible.com/series/ref=a_...sin=B006XE41AC White Trash Zombie series by Diana Rowland. Amazing and fun spin on zombie genre. It's not what you expect. Great narrator. http://www.audible.com/series/ref=a_...sin=B008EM9ILI I finished both of them this year on audible. They are fun and light reads with great characters. They are not completed series, but there's enough of them to keep you busy until next books come out. |

Lois McMaster Bujold , whose Miles Vorkosigan series is definitely fun, and even her Sharing Knife fantasy series is quite good. And well read. Another would be Elizabeth Moon's Deed of Pakesenarrion series.

thought I'd point out our audiobook sub forum we have a thread in there that we post what we have been listening to and it's a great place to find new books to listen to https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=143971 I would recommend The Martian by Andy Weir and The Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch, I also second the recommendations above for Iron Druid series and Ready Player One
