Is there a replacement for Sendtoreader, no longer free

I've been using a service, sendtoreader.com , that sends docs, or text that you paste into sendtoreader's webpage, or a URL of a an article which then sends a doc to one's Kindle device. The text, which can be text you write yourself, or the article whose URL you give Sentoreader is converted to a doc which arrives in your Kindle. It all works within a minute and has been flawless.

Also, when I open a webpage with the Experimental Browser, I can tap the address field, prepend the URL of the current webpage with "s2r.me/" and hit send. A minute later, the webpage arrives in My Kindle as a saved, perfectly formatted doc. This has made using the Experimental Browser feasible in a pinch.

Sendtoreader has been free for most services, but it has canceled all free accounts. It seems to be the project of one person, and there is no advertising, so I understand that the freemium business model hasn't worked out. It is worth $23 a year, but I sleep better not doing any online commerce. If you don't mind sending money to a small online company, Send2reader is a great service. It has been up 99.9% of the time for the 3/4 of the year that I've used it.

I'd like to know if there are similar free services. I know I can email docs to my Kindle email, but I don't know if it's possible to send the URL of a webpage to the Kindle email in order to have the webpage sent as a doc to one's device, or if you can put text in a message to your Kindle email that Amazon then puts into a doc and sends it. Thanks for any ideas.

there is a free chrome browser extension called send to kindle.

mostly it works pretty well, I found one large web page that it could or would not send, but all others appeared, well formatted, with ads stripped out.

Before SendToKindle for Chrome, I used www.clip.me and www.readability.com. All will sometimes hit a web page they can't handle, but SentToKindle seemed (back when I was using several) to have the best success rate.

I still use the readability integration with www.longform.org.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate it. I haven't looked at them yet, so I can't say how they compare to sendtoreader.com, but after checking them out I'll post a comparison of their features.
