BookDesigner PDF Conversion Help
I have been using book designer for quite a while now but have mostly been converting files such as lit files or my own files in word or rtf formats.
I have a question about converting from a PDF file format. When opening the PDF File in BD, any headers such as the book title or page number that are on each page of the pdf are mixed in with the paragraphs in the new BD file. Is there any way to easily correct this or would I be better off using some other program to convert the pdf file then running it through BD for the format. Thanks for the help anyone who can. |

What you might try is using Mobipocket Creator as a first step. Mobi will attempt to rip the PDF to HTML, and use that as the source to build a Mobi file from. Rather than build the Mobi file, you can try feeding the generated HTML to BD for further processing. ______ Dennis |

If the PDF file is unsecured you can save a copy as text <Click on "File" and pick "Save as text" from the drop down menu> and then import the text file to BookDesigner. This usually, but not always, eliminates the PDF footer and header notes.

The problem with PDF is that NO program that I know of is 100% perfect for exporting PDF into some other format. Even Adobe Acrobat has it's share of glitches. The best thing to do is find some program to export in some format such as HTML to keep the attributes and then load into BD. If you export to plain text, convert that to RTF and then load it. Now, when you've loaded it, the only way to make sure you've got it right is to compare what you have loaded with the actual PDF. I know it's a psin, but it has to be done if you want a proper conversion.
