Reading - that's it :)

I want to buy an e-Book reader for ONE reason only.
Wanna read books, that's it.

Is the Kindle 7 ok?
I see it doesn't have epub and I happen to have some of those already.
Any easy way to convert?

I do live in Sweden so please look here for reference of the ones that are the most easily accessible:

Thanks in advance

Well, I have no experience with Kindles although I understand they're perfectly capable devices. In some ways, they're better then Kobos as I understand it. (Particularly if using a dictionary is important to you. Kobos have dictionary support, but many people claim that the Kindle's is better.)

I have a Kobo Aura H2O, and I love it. The advantages to me are:

1) Epub support with Adobe DRM. Amazon doesn't work with Overdrive to do library loans in Canada. I've read well over a hundred library books on my Kobos.

2) The 6.8" hi-def screen is perfect for me.

3) I'll admit that dust & water-proofing is a nice add-on. I have in the past gotten caught in the rain with a Kobo in my jacket pocket. Made me nervous. Now, not so much.

i have Kindles and Kobos. These include a Kindle Voyage and a Paperwhite 2 and a Paperwhite 1 and a Kobo Aura and a Kobo Glo and a Kobo Mini. I don't have the new Kobo Glo HD.

Each of these has something I like about it more than the others. All in all I find myself reading more often with Kindles, especially the Voyage now that I have it. But the truth is that I don't really care that much which one I use. Probably the one I like least is the Kobo Glo and I like it a lot. If it was my only ereader I'd be perfectly content.

On the other side I probably like the Kindle Voyage most. Once I'm reading though, it's the book that matters. I forget what reader I'm using. It really doesn't matter that much.

The one I use least is the Kobo Mini because it doesn't have a lighted screen. Having a front-lighted screen makes a huge difference to me. All the others have that. Frankly, if the Mini had a lighted screen I doubt I'd even use the others. I like how small and light it is.

As for converting epubs to Mobi you can install Calibre and either bulk convert or convert files individually, which is what I do. The entire process from the time I decide to convert a book to the time I have the conversion takes less than a minute and most of that is starting up Calibre and dragging the book into it. The conversion itself usually takes about 10 to 20 seconds and since it's all set up all I have to do is hit C for convert and click okay. It's really that simple.

As Barry mentioned you can use Calibre to convert your ePubs to a format the Kindles will recognize. I would suggest converting to AZW3 rather than mobi though. AZW3 is a newer format and supports features that mobi doesn't. If your books have DRM, you'll need to do add plug ins to Calibre to remove that before converting--but once the plugins are installed in Calibre the conversion process will be seamless.

I think the Kindle 7 would be a fine e-reader--but if you want to be able to read where there is limited lighting, you might want to spend a little extra and go with the Kindle Paper White or one of the lighted Kobos.
