Hi

Just a stupid question.

Does anyone know if this book is available on gutenberg or any other PD bookshelf. The book in question is Young Pegasus an anthology of verse (parts IV-V) arranged by AA Le M. Simpson.

My mother-in-law to be, owns the book, an 1936 first edition third impression (which she inherited). I borrowed it from her.

I couldn't find much on the either the book or the author. According to the National Library of Australia's site, it's probably still under copyright, although I wasn't able to find any biographical data for the author.

I couldn't find an ebook edition at any of the usual spots: Amazon, B&N, etc.

The only info I have is from the title page.
AA Le M. Sumpson was the head of the English Department, Royal Grammar School, Newcastle-on-Tyne. There is three pages dedicated on thanking the various author's who's verses are used in this anthology. Almost 99% of the verses is in PD today, most author's born in the late 18xx. Only three (or five) of those listed was born before 1910.

So might be that the reason why it's not in PD is because of the fact that these authors (ore one of them) works has yet to lapse into PD.

But then 60% of the works in the bundle would have been PD by today's standard when this bundle was printed.

Copyright law is ... complicated.

While the individual works in the anthology might be in the public domain, the anthology itself (if I understand correctly) would be covered by its own copyright. Mr. Simpson might have lived for several decades after compiling it.

Of course, anyone with a better grasp of copyright law can (and should) correct me.
