Is it just me or does version 2.28 not sort authors ?
When I click the Author's tab (the little arrow to the right) nothing happens.

When I do the same to the authors tag it sorts.

This is version 2.28 on Windows ver 8.1.

Me confused on what you are doing

Clicking on the column heading, flips the arrow and the sort direction follows
In the tag browser, the arrow only expands/contracts the section. This has not changed.

Author sorting with 2.28 and Windows 8.1 works for me.

This is stranger
2.28 does not run on XP which has the arrow on the right (V2.0)

W7 has the arrow in the Middle (top)

But in either case, a right click will get you an extended menu which includes sort

Are we running into a 'Classic Theme' issue?

Could be something like that, I more-or-less use the default theme. I don't have to click the arrow (on the right) in the Author column header to Sort or or change direction - anywhere will do.

But I do have to click the arrow to expand a branch of the tree in the left sidebar.

Windows 7 Theme DOES affect the arrow location (restart Calibre required )

Basic in Middle top

Thanks for the input. I've been having problems with the latest install of windows updates (argh!) and two of them that failed. I had to do a roll back and then a reinstall which included reinstalling the latest calibre updates. Clicking on author now sorts again. It was acting like I wasn't doing anything when I clicked anywhere on author including the tiny little arrow before I did the restore and reinstall.

Since the reinstall of calibre I can't reproduce the error now. Must have been my system hiccuping.
