On Device status question

I know that if I plug my Kindle PW into Calibre, I get a column showing which books are on device.

Is there any way I can record this status in a custom column?

It seems to me the problem with doing this is may be that the 'on device' column is transient and reference to it goes when the device is ejected.

The doable:
Create a custom T/F column
Connect the device and let status settle.
Search: ondevice:true ; Select all; Bulk Metadat edit (Tap E): set that custom field value to True. OK

The downside(S):

1) You need to Manually clear any previous status prior to the update.

2) This makes all those (book) transactions update the modified status timestamps. If you use CC and ask it to update Metadata, you will process ALL THOSE BOOKS.

You can also handle this with the [GUI Plugin] Reading List plugin.

I keep forgetting that one exists.

I don't do lists

I also tend to read a single book on one device (the other devices are for books that won't behave on my old PEz or needs color or scrollable zooming (diagrams) )
